How to: Highlight and Contour

So, I just wanted to share a contour and highlight technique
made famous by Mario Dedivanovic, one of Kim Kardashian's MUA.
Mario is a great MUA and he is the contour & highlight king!
Kim K is known for her sculpted face makeup and it has been
a makeup trend ever since. Though this might not be ideal for
everyone, I would say it's great for photo shoots and film.

I don't do this daily but I would do this technique if I were to put on
makeup for a special occasion requiring a full-on made up face.

To start of, you would need 2 cream concealers/foundation:
One that is a couple shades lighter than your skin tone,
and the other which is a couple shades darker than your skin tone.

I used my foundation palette that carries a variety of shades from
a pale pink-ish shade to a dark brown shade.

You can mix the foundations until you get your desired shades
for the highlight and contour.

You'll also be needing a damp sponge to blend everything together.
I used my beauty blender dupe, but you can use a regular white
triangular sponge if you don't have a sponge similar to the beauty blender.

So this is what I look like without makeup.
You would want to start with a clean face,
then moisturize and prime (if needed).

Let's start with the highlighting!
You would need to highlight the following areas:
1) the center of your forehead -- but don't go too far up.
Just about 2/3 of the way up from your brows.
2) On your brow bone -- area under the arch of your brows.
3) Under your eyes. Create an inverted triangle that
goes down the sides of your nose.
4) Down the bridge of your nose.
5) Your cupid's bow. (The concave area right above your upper lip)
6) From the side of your mouth towards your ear lobe.
7) The center of your chin.

Next are the areas you would contour:
1) The top of your forehead near your hairline.
2) Your temples.
3) From the top of your ear towards your lips.
4) Down the sides of the bridge of your nose.
5) Your jawline.

Now, you want to blend the highlighted areas first, starting under
your eyes since we want to keep this bright.
When you're done blending the highlighted areas,
move on to the contoured areas.
Blend everything together until the highlights and contours
are seamless.

And voila! You get a very natural looking highlight & contour.
This complexion makeup would work well with smokey or
dramatic eyes or if you just want to give your face more depth.
If you would pair this with smokey eyes, I suggest darkening
the contour of the cheekbones and leaving blush out of it.
Nude lips would go well with this look.
Here is a comparison -- the before and after photos.
Left: no makeup
Right: with contour and highlight

This is the final look -- in a couple of angles.
It gives your face more depth, and for photo shoots, more dimension.
Pardon my snobby face.

So, I hope this was helpful to you guys in some way. :)
Thanks for dropping by! x
